Capstone Collection

My capstone collection ‘RUMI' by Pavni Chandani, is a collection that brings a unique fusion of modern fashion, culture and tradition. It is a tribute to the individuals who had to migrate and leave their homes during 1947 Indian Partition. I aim to create a resort wear collection preserving Sindhi culture and art while catering for a modern audience. We are a slow fashion brand featuring custom beaded textiles, inspired by Sindhi traditional embroidery techniques. Each piece encourages you to enter a world where innovation meets culture and where sustainability coexists peacefully with slow fashion.Beyond being a capstone project, this collection stands as a tribute to my ancestors.

Ideation: Capstone Collection Rumi

The ideation for Rumi is rooted in the transformative events of 1947, exploring the themes of migration, immigration, and resilience shaped by Partition. Inspired by the sea as both a connector and divider, I drew parallels between its fluidity and the movement of people across borders, using draped silhouettes and organic forms to reflect this journey.

The collection integrates the textures and colors of Sindh’s landscapes, where desert tones meet coastal blues, symbolizing the interplay of heritage and new beginnings. Traditional Sindhi embroidery serves as a storytelling medium, embodying the resilience and identity of displaced communities. Through Rumi, I weave a narrative of movement, memory, and belonging, celebrating the enduring spirit of those who traverse seas and borders.
